DRS Wheel Block System
DRS Drive Wheel Block for Demag Cranes
Demag Crane DRS Wheel Block: GGG ductile iron housing, GGG70 wheel (HRC50+), sealed bearing & modular design for heavy-load, corrosion-resistant crane operations
Among the numerous core components of Demag cranes, the DRS Wheel Block serves as a key component that directly bears the weight of the entire crane and the hoisting load, and enables the precise movement of the crane. Its performance directly affects the operational reliability, operational safety and comprehensive operational efficiency of the crane.

To meet the rigorous operational requirements of Demag cranes, the DRS Wheel Block has developed unique technical advantages in material selection, structural design and performance optimization, establishing strong core competitiveness. In terms of material selection, the housing of the DRS Wheel Block is made of high-strength ductile iron (GGG series). After precision casting and aging treatment, it not only has excellent impact toughness to resist the load impact during the start-up and shutdown of the crane, but also possesses outstanding deformation resistance, which can withstand heavy load pressure for a long time without being easily damaged. The wheel body of the traveling wheel is made of high-alloy materials with excellent wear resistance such as GGG 70. Through multiple heat treatment processes including quenching and carburizing, the wheel surface hardness reaches above HRC50, which effectively reduces the wear rate between the wheel body and the track and extends the service life of the wheel block. For scenarios with strong corrosion such as ports, some DRS Wheel Blocks will also adopt special coating treatment to further improve corrosion resistance.
In terms of structural design, the DRS Wheel Block demonstrates in-depth adaptability to heavy-load scenarios. The interior of the wheel block is equipped with high-quality cylindrical roller bearings or double-row angular contact ball bearings, and the matching accuracy between the bearings, wheel body and shaft reaches the micron level, ensuring uniform force bearing during heavy-load rotation and reducing frictional wear. At the same time, the bearing part is equipped with a multi-layer sealing and dust-proof structure, adopting a combined design of lip seals and labyrinth seals, which can effectively block dust, oil stains, high-temperature debris in the workshop and humid water vapor in ports from entering the interior of the bearings, ensuring smooth operation of the bearings even in harsh environments. In addition, the DRS Wheel Block adopts a modular design concept. The five connection surfaces processed by precision milling can realize multiple connection methods with the traveling mechanism of Demag cranes, which not only simplifies the installation and commissioning process, but also facilitates later maintenance and component replacement, reducing equipment downtime.
As the core power component of Demag cranes, the DRS Wheel Block perfectly meets the operational requirements of Demag cranes in various harsh scenarios with its high-strength material selection, heavy-load-adapted structural design, excellent environmental adaptability and continuously upgraded intelligence capabilities.
